There’s plenty of football to talk about on Sports Spectrum.

The NCAA Division II playoffs start today in communities across the nation. In light of that we visit with the long time head coach of one of the teams in the playoffs, Danny Hale of Bloomsburg University. Danny is one of the most underrated coaches in the nation and we hear how a coach’s influence impacts his players and community.

We also visit with the back up quarterback for the New York Giants, David Carr. David is a former first round draft pick of the Houston Texans. He was traded to Carolina and is now in New York. He’s gone from being the first pick of the draft to an NFL back-up.  But there’s more to the David Carr story than what happens on the field.

College coaching replacements often take over at schools that have been struggling on the field. What’s it like for a coaching staff to take over a winning program with expectations so lofty they’re tough to live up to? The Mountaineers of West Virginia are not hesitant to make their expectations in the Big East known every year. We talk about this issue with Dave Johnson, an assistant coach at West Virginia. Dave tells us about the challenges the coaching staff faces.

College football recruiting has become a sport of its own. Fans across the country like to know how their favorite team is doing. We talk with the best recruiting analyst in the business, Tom Lemming of CSTV.  Tom also sees his business as a unique service. It’s heart warming to hear Tom’s stories about young athletes.

Don't miss an hour of football conversation on Sports Spectrum Saturday.
