The 2008 NASCAR season has come to a close. Once again Jimmie Johnson is the point’s champion. It’s his third consecutive win in NASCAR's overall point series equaling an accomplishment previously set by racing great Cale Yarborough.
On this edition of Sports Spectrum Today, we talk with one of our racing analysts, Brad Winters.
Brad observes some of the similarities and differences between Johnson and Yarborough and the common reasons behind their success. Brad also talks about why this could be a difficult time for NASCAR. The decline in the nation's economy could have a major impact on the sport. Lay-offs are a real possibility.
Next season, whether NASCAR runs with a full compliment of competitors or not, there are drivers that could challenge Jimmie Johnson for the points title? Brad shares his thoughts on possible contenders.
Brad also comments on the future of Indy Racing League star Helio Castroneves. Helio has some legal issues with regards to unpaid taxes and that may prevent him from racing next season.
It’s a visit with racing writer Brad Winters at the close of the NASCAR season on Sports Spectrum Today.
