It’s been a tumultuous week in Knoxville, Tennessee. On Monday the long time football coach at the University of Tennessee, Phil Fulmer was fired, effective at the end of the season. He’s been the Vols head coach since the 1993 season.
Fulmer success in Knoxville led the team to a BCS national championship in 1998. It was the school's first national title in football since 1951. In fact, the Vols played in the SEC championship game as recently as last season.
Fulmer's firing has triggered a range of emotions in Knoxville from former players, fans, alumni and community members. On this edition of Sports Spectrum Today, we talk with a Knoxville based columnist for Sports Spectrum magazine, Victor Lee.
Victor shares his thoughts and emotions on the firing of Phil Fulmer. He also talks about the mood of the Tennessee fan base and shares his thoughts on the reason for the dismissal. It’s a very timely issue and it’s the time of the year when many other coaches will also find themselves without a job.
It’s a real-life issue in sports with Victor Lee on Sports Spectrum Today.
